Zig Zag Charters
Experience

Butler Point Whaling Museum
Butler
Point is a privately owned 26 hectare property in the Far North of New
Zealand's North Island. Over the last three decades the proprietors
of Butler Point, Linda and Laetitia Ferguson, have developed the property
into ann excellent whaling museum, historic captain Butler's House &
garden and a Macadamia orchard. One of the Far North's most fascinating
heritage tourism destinations.
Mangonui Heritage Trail
Beginning
and ending at the Mangonui courthouse, the Mangonui Heritage Trail provides
a glimpse of the great wealth of Maori and European History associated
with this area. The Trail is three kilometres in length and accessible
by foot or vehicle. The average time to walk the trail is one and a
half hours. Mangonui Waterfront Apartments Motel is number 16 on the
trail.
World Famous Fish 'n' Chips
Mangonui
Fish Shop must be one of the few places left where you buy your fish
and chips by weight rather than by a cost per piece. It's also very
fresh, coming in straight off the fishing boats which tie up at the
jetty behind the shop. You can sit outside with the sea running only
metres under your feet and watch fish swimming around the pier while
you eat their cousins and toss them the scraps.
Beaches
For
perfect beaches there are few more relaxing spots in New Zealand than
Doubtless Bay, which enjoys a mild sub-tropical climate and crystal
clear waters at beaches such as Cable Bay (the place for body surfing),
Ninety Mile Beach (4WD adventure haven) and Whatuwhiwhi (windsurfing
waters). With so many superb beaches to choose from, you can avoid the
crowds and find your own private piece to enjoy the inspiring scenery
Doubtless Bay offers.
Gumdiggers Park
Experience
Northland as it was in the early 1900s. This unique attraction gives
the visitor an in-depth look into the every day life of the gumdiggers.
View the ancient Kauri logs andthe maze of Giant Gum Holes that cover
this 8 hectare site.
Situated 25 kilometres north of Kaitaia, Gumdiggers Park is a 4 minute detour off the main road to Cape Reinga.
